Pete Wishart, MP for Perth and North Perthshire, has met Scottish Water in a bid to receive an update on action being taken to look at flooding in Feus Road in Perth.
Feus Road has been hit several times as a result of flash floods, the latest deluge taking place on the weekend of July 16/17.
Yesterday, Mr Wishart said he felt it was important to have the meeting.
“There has been criticism recently of Scottish Water and the council that they have been too ready to blame the other for the flooding difficulties,” he said.
“I am pleased that they are recognising the need to work together to determine the root cause of the flooding and what action needs to be taken to avert such situations in the future.
“I understand that detailed CCTV surveys and modelling is now under way so that particular problems in the system can be identified and an action plan developed as a result.”
Roseanna Cunningham, the MSP for Perthshire South and Kinross-shire, added, “There is no doubt that this has been a very frustrating time for the local residents of Feus Road with many constituents contacting both myself and Pete over this period.
“There has been an unfortunate history of flooding in this area of Perth over the past few years and I am looking for Scottish Water and the council to take effective action to ensure that residents do not suffer in the future.”
