BMW’s new 1-Series goes on sale on September 17 priced from £19,375.
Buyers will have a choice of two new petrol engines, the 116i and 118i, and three revised diesel engines the 116d, 118d and 120d.
All the diesels return 62.8mpg and emit 118g/km of CO2, although these figures vary very slightly according to model, specification and transmission.
There’s good news for economy fans, as a 116d EfficientDynamics version will be along at a later date, bringing with it fuel economy of 74.3mpg and road tax exempt emissions of 99g/km.
All cars come with a six speed manual, although an eight speed automatic with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifts can be specified as an extra.
Four trim levels will be offered ES, SE, Sport and Urban. All cars get alloy wheels, 16-inch on the ES and SE, 17-inch on the others. Sport and Urban are identically priced and differ only in style. The most expensive 1-Series is the 120d in Sport or Urban spec.
