After four months of tough try-outs at venues across the country, the final team chosen to represent Scotland at the Roller Derby World Cup has been announced.
Around 45 players from several leagues, including Perth’s own Fair City Rollers and the Dundee Roller Girls, went up against rivals on Thursday in a bid to secure a place.
Officials from Team Scotland then faced the tough task of narrowing the field down to just 20 skaters.
Among those preparing to fly to Toronto in Canada to represent their country is Laura Liston, also known as Psychomilly, from the Dundee Roller Girls.
She is one of just four reserves who could be chosen to step up to the challenge if any of the other players from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen are unable to take part in the inaugural World Cup, organised by Blood and Thunder magazine.
Head coach Den Milligan (aka Viper) said, “It’s been a tough few months for the selection committee because we had so many talented skaters try out and we could only select 20 for the final roster.
“All girls skated with 100% passion and determination and we feel confident in the 20 women we have selected and are very excited to represent our country in this historic event.”
However, before they are able to jet off to Canada in December, the team are seeking a sponsor to help with costs.
