The sport of kings will be graced by the heir to the throne when the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay arrive for the Perth Racecourse Charities Race Day this month.
Prince Charles will be guest of honour at the fixture the richest in the course’s four-century history on Saturday, August 20.
It has been supported by a host of organisations, including The Courier, and now has the royal seal of approval as well.
The fixture, together with the Stagecoach Gala Dinner at Perth Concert Hall the evening before, hopes to raise £200,000 in funds for The Prince’s Charities in Scotland a group of not-for-profit organisations of which Charles is president.
At the race day the duke and duchess will be invited to present the Governor’s Cup to the winning connections of the feature race, the £40,000 Scottish Hydro Summer Champion Hurdle.
Racecourse general manager Sam Morshead said, “This fixture is shaping up to be our most popular event of all time and the icing on our cake is to have their royal highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay attending a race meeting at Perth.
“We are all looking forward to what promises to be a very special occasion for Perth Racecourse and jump racing in Scotland.”
Prior to the horse racing the royal couple and other spectators will enjoy two camel races, with both celebrity and local riders taking part.
