Perthshire farm is reaping the benefits of experience

It’s harvest time on arable farms, and one Perthshire family in particular know that there is no substitute for experience.
Three generations of the Peock family already work the land at Todston Farm, near Madderty with a fourth keen to join in when he gets a little older.
Heading the team is 90-year-old patriarch John Peock who, despite his advancing years, continues to play a key role in the success of the farm.
The pensioner still helps out with the combining and, once the crop is in, fires up his trusty International 956 tractor to plough the fields for the next crop.
His son John and grandson David appreciate his help and great-grandson Andrew (3) is determined to follow in his footsteps.
John said of his father: “We are so lucky to have Dad working with us, with his wealth of experience.
“He’s remarkably fit for his age and I value his opinion and admire his spirit. He’s a hard act to follow.”
