Two drivers were rushed to hospital after a dramatic three-vehicle crash on a busy country road on Tuesday.
A woman had to be cut free from her red Peugeot after it was in a collision with a white Renault Kangoo van and a grey Renault Laguna.
Both cars ended up on an embankment at the side of the A923 Coupar Angus road, close to Tullybaccart Farm, with the Peugeot having flipped on to its roof and had its door removed.
The van came to rest in a field on the other side of the road and its driver was subsequently rushed to Ninewells Hospital in a separate ambulance.
A spokeswoman for Tayside Fire and Rescue said fire crews from Coupar Angus, Blairgowrie and Macalpine Road in Dundee attended, along with the heavy rescue unit and trauma team.
Emergency services were called to the accident at 7.45am and police quickly closed the road, diverting drivers heading to Dundee via Littleton and Knapp.
An officer with a 4×4 blocked the road south just yards from the junction with the farm, while two officers in a patrol car did the same outside the newsagent in Muirhead.
A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “There were two ambulances in attendance and both took casualties to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.”
Both the Peugeot and van drivers received check-ups at Ninewells but their injuries were not thought to be serious or life threatening, while the Laguna driver walked away from the scene unhurt.
