Three Peaks Challenge sisters are doing it for Leanne
ByNews reporter
Two Dundee sisters are undertaking a mountain challenge in memory of a friend who died aged only 21.
Donna and Leah Mackay and three friends plan to complete the Three Peaks Challenge climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales.
They hope to scale Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon within 24 hours, including travelling time.
Money raised will go to the Leanne Fund set up to commemorate the life of Leanne Mitchell. The fund provides non-medical treats for young cystic fibrosis sufferers in the Highlands and Islands.
The sisters are from Lewis but moved to Dundee to study.
Donna (26) is now a social worker in Angus and Leah (23) works for Gowrie Care.
The sisters are joined on the challenge by friends Ann Marie Murray, Anna Macritchie and Lorna Macarthur.
The team were due to set off for Wales on Thursday and were to start the Snowdon climb on Friday.
