Dundee United manager Peter Houston is poised to throw new signing Lauri Dalla Valle straight into his side.
The Tangerines head to McDiarmid Park on Saturday looking to get back on track following a disappointing defeat to Dunfermline last weekend.
The Finnish under-21 international joined on loan from Fulham on Wednesday but he has already made a good impression on his new boss, so the signs are that he will lead United’s attack against St Johnstone.
“Lauri is fit, fresh and ready to go,” declared Houston. “If you look at his videos on the internet what you will notice is that he is a goalscorer, a finisher.
“What we will be looking for is to create chances for him to put away. I saw plenty of that footage but, more importantly, I watched him live for the Liverpool academy side when he was there and spoke to Fulham youth coach Billy McKinlay about him.
“So we have done our homework. I was actually dealing with someone about another striker and when I told him that I had the chance to sign Lauri he said don’t bother going on with the other one, just go for Lauri. That was a good sign for me.
“Obviously it will take him time to adjust to the SPL because it is a bit different to England. What I have told him is that up here there is more football played than, for example, in the Championship.”
United have a slight doubt over captain Jon Daly, who has a knee knock, but he should be OK.
