A court has heard a Perthshire woman had a bottle of vodka between her legs when she was caught drink-driving.
At Dundee Sheriff Court on Thursday, Susan Fowlie (43), of Woodford, High Street, Rattray, admitted driving on the Coupar Angus Road in Dundee on August 24 when her breath alcohol was over the legal limit.
Depute fiscal Douglas Wiseman said: “The accused was seen straddling the white lines, braking suddenly and pulling into a bus stop around 2pm.”
Fowlie was followed by a civilian witness who caught up with her vehicle and stopped in front of her. He saw Fowlie with a half bottle of vodka between her legs and contacted the police.
At the same time the accused contacted the police to say she was being harassed.
Police arrived and saw Fowlie was unsteady on her feet and her speech was slurred.
Fowlie’s agent said she had been teetotal but turned to drink in an attempt to come to terms with the death of her father.
Sheriff Alistair Duff said: “The circumstances are slightly unusual because she had some of the drink with her. From that I take it she was topping up as she went along.”
Sheriff Duff deferred sentence until September 22 for reports and disqualified Fowlie from driving.
