Almost 200 Angus Council staff have begun the return to County Buildings in Forfar.
The Market Street building was closed in April after electrical problems caused significant disruption to services over a number of weeks. Electrical repairs have been completed and, while the building was empty, the council also upgraded some safety lighting and doors.
A council spokesman said there would be a phased return to the building over the next two weeks to allow telephones and computers to be reconnected with the minimum disruption to services.
“The reoccupation of the building started today when some staff from planning and economic development returned to their offices,” the spokesman said on Monday. “Services will be maintained as far as is possible throughout this phased return but we would ask members of the public to bear with us as staff complete their moves back to the building.
“If staff cannot be reached on their direct telephone number, ACCESSLine on 08452 777 778 can deal with your inquiry. Emails may be also be disrupted as people move but we aim to have individuals’ emails restored by the following day wherever possible.”
Staff from roads, planning, transport, economic development and environmental consumer protection will all return between now and Friday, September 9.
Anyone submitting a planning application is asked to note that the planning reception will continue to operate from Angus House on the council’s Orchardbank campus until Wednesday, September 7. The service will resume on Monday, September 12, at County Buildings.
