One of Perth’s best-known companies has announced that it is creating 50 new jobs.
Window and door manufacturer Sidey is bucking the recessionary trend by creating the new vacancies in its manufacturing and installation operations.
The full-time roles 33 in installation and 17 in manufacturing will see Sidey increase its number of employees by 25% from 215 to 265.
Founded nearly 80 years ago, the announcement means the firm has moved up a league in terms of being a significant local employer.
Based in Feus Road, the company attributes its continuing success to a relentless focus on quality, innovation and customer service.
Sidey’s commercial sales director Steve Hardy said: “With all the talk of a double-dip recession we’ve almost taken ourselves by surprise with how we’re continuing to power on and grow our business.
“It might sound a bit trite but it really does boil down to the quality of our people, the quality of our products and the quality of our service.”
Sidey’s business horizons spread well beyond its home area and it has supplied or installed home improvements to over a dozen Scottish councils in the last year.
From Orkney to Dumfries, it has supplied and fitted windows, doors, kitchens, bathrooms and heating systems to over 5,000 social housing homes.
And the firm’s coverage is not limited to Scotland as it has already delivered over 20 successful projects in England and Wales this year.
These range from student accommodation at the universities of Exeter and Nottingham to a Scottish and Southern Energy experimental development in Slough designed to test different construction methods and communal heating systems.
The company’s products are designed and manufactured in the UK.
Mr Hardy added: “In these difficult and challenging times it really is a pleasure to report on our recent job creation initiatives and we are truly delighted to give the local economy something of a boost.
“Furthermore, we know that our new colleagues will share the same vision and commitment to quality and service as our existing workforce.”
