Actor Michael Douglas said he is ”feeling good” as he gears up to play in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
The star battled throat cancer, while his wife Catherine Zeta Jones checked into hospital after revealing she was suffering from bipolar disorder.
Douglas admitted it had been an ”eventful time,” but is looking forward to the restorative effects of some bracing sea air.
The Dunhill is played over the Old Course in St Andrews, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie.
Douglas admitted he might be a bit rusty, but said he was looking forward to picking up the clubs once again.
”It has been a few years since I played. I love the place and the atmosphere and I have missed it a lot,” he said.
”It has been an eventful time for me recently,” he continued. ”However, I am now feeling good and am looking forward to an excellent week on some of the greatest links courses in the world.”
Sporting knights Ian Botham, Bobby Charlton, Matthew Pinsent and Steve Redgrave will also take part.
They will be paired up with the likes of major winners Darren Clarke, Rory McIlroy and defending Dunhill champion Martin Kaymer.
The latter will be hoping to become the first ever golfer to win back-to-back Dunhill titles.
Chris Evans will also be strutting his stuff on the world-famous fairways of the Old Course and is looking forward to remembering every second.
He has recently given up alcohol and said he ”cannot imagine” what a ”sober swing” will feel like, but insists he is looking forward to finding out.
