Plans to build a windfarm on two Angus grouse shooting estates will go on public display today.
The renewable energy offshoot of a national power company wants to develop Cormaud Windfarm on the northwest of Kirriemuir, an area of open moorland where red deer graze.
The developers say they will look for evidence of wildcats on the site and if there is any indication they are about, web cams will be installed to help measure any risk of harm.
The impact of the proposed development on a number of species in the area, including otters, bats and raptors, is to be assessed prior to formal plans being lodged.
SSE Renewables Developments (UK) Limited lodged a pre-planning application with Angus Council last week and is to hold a public exhibition regarding the wind farm proposals in Kingoldrum Village Hall on Tuesday. The exhibition will move to Kirriemuir Town hall on Wednesday. At both locations the exhibition will run from 1pm to 7pm.
Members of the project team will be available at the exhibitions to answer questions and listen to any concerns raised.
The proposal is to put up 14 wind turbines each with a maximum blade tip height of up to 135m. They will have a combined installed capacity of approximately 35 megawatts.
The wind farm would be built on a 442.6 hectares site of open moorland. The site, approximately 10km northwest of Kirriemuir, takes in three hills Cormaud, Tarapetmile Hill and Bodandere Hill.
