A fund set up to raise money for terminally-ill Dundee schoolgirl Madison Barclay has closed with £18,000 donated.
People from all walks of life have shown their generosity as she continues to confront an extremely rare form of cancer.
There are high hopes that the seven-year-old will be able to enjoy the holiday of her dreams at Disneyland Paris.
The Gowriehill Primary School pupil is the only child in the UK to suffer from the unusual cancerous brain tumour. That prompted locals to set up a fund to help Madison and her family, by giving them the holiday of a lifetime.
And now all the donations have been counted, campaigners are doing everything they can to let Madison meet Mickey Mouse.
Gowriehill janitor Tam McGeary said thousands of pounds had been lodged with a travel agent so Madison’s family could make the necessary arrangements.
He said: ”The hospital are going to recommend places that she might be able to stay, and she’ll get special passes so she doesn’t have to queue.
”We just want to thank everybody and let them know that the money has been lodged with the travel agent so the family can go and book their holiday.”
Madison has already enjoyed a holiday to Blackpool and looks set to visit Legoland, near Windsor, in the coming weeks.
Classmates many of whom have helped with fundraising have given the school a £2,000 cheque, which will go towards special sensory equipment.
