Paul Dixon says Dundee United are determined to bounce back strongly after their lacklustre performance in defeat to Celtic last weekend.
United were far from their Sunday best against the Hoops, with boss Peter Houston criticising his players for being technically poor throughout the game.
Dixon says he and the rest of the squad are now desperate to make amends for letting the club’s fans down, although he acknowledged they face a tough assignment in the Highlands on Saturday against an Inverness side who will be looking to secure back-to-back wins after their victory over St Mirren.
He said: ”It wasn’t a great performance on Sunday, which was really frustrating as we normally do well against the Old Firm. We have done it already this season, especially against Rangers.
”You can take a defeat but not when you have played poorly.
”Looking in from the outside, most people would see the Celtic result and say it was only 1-0 so they must have done reasonably well, but our performance simply wasn’t good enough.
”We just need to get it out of our systems now and focus on Saturday. We realise it will be tough though as Inverness seem to have turned a wee corner and have picked up a couple of good results recently.
”They have maybe been a bit unlucky this season. We beat them 3-1 at home but that was probably our best performance so far.”
