‘BRRRRAVEHEARTS’ are being encouraged to start 2012 with a cooling dip in the North Sea.
Sunday will see the second Arbroath Dook take place to raise money for Cancer Research UK and organisers are hoping residents will resolve to give some early support to the charity by taking the plunge.
The inaugural event drew a massive crowd of onlookers to the West Links on January 1 and there are hopes some of those who enjoyed the spectacle from the sidelines last time may be brave enough to strip off this time around.
Organiser Alana Loudon said: ”At the moment we are looking at around 30 dookers, if everyone turns up. That’s just short of last year’s figure, so we are hoping for a late surge in interest to try and better that number.
”We are extending an invitation to everyone in Angus to come along to support Cancer Research UK and to do something a bit different to start the year.”
The dook will again involve a procession from Arbroath FC’s Gayfield Park to the West Links.
”We are accepting entry up to 1.30pm on the day at Gayfield, but everyone must register for health and safety reasons,” added Alana. ”It costs £5 to enter and everyone gets a t-shirt and goody bag.”
