A spate of accidents on Fife’s roads on Thursday saw a man killed and a woman taken to hospital.
Andrew Dobie, who was 64 and from Kirkcaldy, was fatally injured on the A909 near the entrance to Mossmorran, by Cowdenbeath, when his Peugeot was involved in a head-on collision with a black Suzuki Jimny.
He was employed at the Mossmorran plant and was on his way to work at the time.
In tribute, his family said: ”Andrew leaves behind wife Christine, children Kevin and Karen, and two grandsons, and will be sadly missed.”
The collision happened at around 7.15am. Mr Dobie was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman who was driving the Suzuki was uninjured but left shaken by the incident and was taken to Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline as a precaution.
Elsewhere in Fife, three other drivers experienced problems.
A woman in her sixties was taken to Queen Margaret Hospital by ambulance after her Fiat overturned in Stobb Cross Road, Markinch, at around 8.45am. She was cut free by firefighters but was not seriously hurt.
A 44-year-old woman escaped injury when her car hit black ice and crashed into a tree near Fife Animal Park at Collessie.
And Wester Bogie Road in Kirkcaldy was closed for around 50 minutes after a lorry jack-knifed at around 7am. The driver was unharmed.
