Dundee boss Barry Smith is looking for his players to replicate the performance they produced against Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup when they face Livingston on league business this Saturday.

The Dark Blues went toe to toe against Kenny Shiels’ SPL side at the weekend with a Manuel Pascali first-half headed goal being cancelled out just seconds after the break by a Steven Milne equaliser.

Dundee then had a glorious chance to seal a memorable victory but Matt Lockwood’s penalty was easily saved by Killie’s Cammy Bell.

The sides meet in Ayrshire next Tuesday night with the winners set to face Hibs and former Dundee striker Leigh Griffiths in the fifth round.

But Smith was keen to deflect attention away from the cup and instead was stressing the importance of the league game at Dens against Gary Bollan’s Livingston side.

He said: ”We will forget about the cup until a week on Tuesday. It is now back to league business and we have to make sure we pick up three points on Saturday.

”Livi are a good passing side and will be dangerous but the boys should have taken a lot of confidence from the way they played against a Premier League team.”

Nicky Riley and Rhys Weston both missed the Kilmarnock game with hamstring and ankle injuries respectively but Smith is keeping his fingers crossed they will come into contention for the weekend.

He said: ”Nicky tried to run on Friday without success so we will see how responds to treatment this week. Rhys has now managed some running at training and we hope he will be available for the Livi game.”
