A Perth teenager is setting out to prove that she is the fairest maiden of them all after reaching the finals of a UK-wide modelling competition.

Hayley Honeyman will battle it out between 45 other young women to be crowned Top Model UK’s natural beauty of 2012.

The 18-year-old, who is also a talented dancer, has already made it through a rigorous judging process which saw 500 potential rivals being sent home.

She is no stranger to the trials and tribulations of these contests, as she took part in Radio Tay’s Face of 2011 last year. Although she didn’t win that particular competition, Hayley is confident that this latest event will help kick-start a glamorous new chapter in her life.

”I’m hoping that this will lead to a modelling career,” she said. ”I’ve got a photo shoot in a few weeks and I’m really looking forward to that because I want to get my portfolio started.

”I only left school last year so I’ve just really been concentrating on my modelling and dancing.”

While she has plans to undertake a midwifery course in the near future, for now Hayley is hoping to set the fashion world alight.

The next few weeks will be spent preparing herself for the grand finale, which takes place between March 16 and 18 at the Hilton Metropole in London.

The disco diva also hopes to bring a personal touch to the competition, using her freestyle dance background as inspiration.

She added: ”There are various sections to the show, including runway walks and a swimwear or underwear category. We have to come up with our own costumes so I want to incorporate my dance outfits into this.

”Most of the clothes I wear for my disco competitions feature a lot of crystals and glitter, so I want to make my swimwear outfit a bit more glam by using the same approach.”

Hayley’s efforts to make it in the modelling world have been given the full backing of her family. She even credits her mother Alexa as being her inspiration.

”It has always been my mum who has encouraged me to do things like this,” she said. ”She is always telling me that I’m beautiful and should enter competitions. She even put my name down for the Face of 2011 contest and I only found out when I got a surprise phone call.”
