The transfer window closed without Dundee being able to add to a squad which suffered a loss on Monday when star man Gavin Rae left for Aberdeen.
However, as the transfer window deadline approached, new Dens Park chief executive Scot Gardiner moved to reassure fans that the club and manager Barry Smith will still work tirelessly to bring in new faces.
And with the Dark Blues looking to secure loan deals, Gardiner has pointed out that it made no real sense for Dundee to add during the window.
He said: “We will be doing no business tonight. We have a few targets we are speaking to but if we signed anyone tonight they would not be able to play for us in the last game of the season as they would fall outwith the 93-day emergency loan window.
“So the transfer window deadline does not really apply to us. If we had been buying players, that would have been a different matter.
“We are looking to bring in one or maybe two players and Barry has been extremely active. Nothing has been confirmed yet but we have been speaking again tonight and we are determined to strengthen the squad.
“So I would like to reassure the fans that this isn’t the end of the world just because we haven’t signed anyone in the window.”
