More than £11,000 worth of jewellery has been stolen in the latest in a spate of high-value break-ins in Perthshire.
Detectives said they could not rule out the possibility that the raid in Scone and other similar incidents were the work of one organised gang.
Over the past month jewellery thefts have been reported in Comrie, Auchterarder, Madderty, St Madoes and Aberfeldy, which could all be linked.
Thieves struck the detached property in Murrayshall Road, Scone, some time between midday on Sunday and 8.30pm on Monday.
Among the items taken were a chrome Omega watch, a platinum diamond eternity ring, a 22-carat gold diamond ring, a woven 24-carat gold necklace, a sapphire and diamond gold band, a rose gold wedding band, a gold charm bracelet and charms, and gold rope bracelet.
Inquiries have revealed that a cold caller offering insulation was seen in the area during the previous week.
He is described as being in his early twenties, slim, 5ft 8in to 6ft 2in, with light coloured hair. He may have been wearing a yellow jacket.
Officers are keen to trace this man as he may have information useful to their inquiries.
And some time between 3.30pm on Saturday and 3pm on Monday a detached house in secluded gardens in the hamlet of Fortingall, near Aberfeldy, was broken into and a four-figure sum of cash was stolen.
A police spokesman urged householders to be vigilant and look out for any suspicious activity.
It is believed that bogus callers could be singling out empty properties, so residents should ensure their homes are secure.
”In particular we would ask people to be alert to anyone arriving unannounced,” the spokesman said. ”If a caller claims to represent a business, authority or agency, then demand to see their identification.”
The force also appealed to residents to keep an eye on elderly or vulnerable neighbours.
Anyone with information that could assist inquiries should call 0300 111 2222, or speak to any officer.
