Dundee United defender Mihael Kovacevic may not have to undergo knee surgery after all.
Kovacevic was believed to have snapped his cruciate ligament while training back home in Switzerland and was scheduled to go under the knife earlier this week.
However, further examination of the injury left the club’s medical staff feeling he does not need an operation.
Instead, the 22-year-old will now undergo rehabilitation at Tannadice.
“The medical people have said they want the swelling to go down a bit more because they think he might be able to recover without getting operated on,” said boss Peter Houston.
“So Mihael is working with the physio just now and we will see how it goes.
“Obviously if he gets back quicker than we expected then that would be great news.
“I know that injuries like this can be sorted through rehab alone so we will see what happens over the new few weeks.”
