A Bridge of Earn artist has taken it upon himself to give an eyesore in the village a makeover by creating a huge mural.
Worn down by seeing the prominent site in Low Road lying vacant for years, Ian Imrie (73) decided to take up his paintbrush for some “positive vandalism.”
After failing to get any response from the company which owns the derelict garage over his idea of improving a fence around the site, Mr Imrie started work on Friday and put in over 20 hours on his painting over the weekend.
“The site has lain derelict for four years and it is one of the first things you see when you come into the village,” he said.
“The Brig in Bloom committee do a lot of hard work to make the village look nice so I decided to play my part and took matters into my own hands.
“You could say it is vandalism, but I have had good comments from people and motorists have been sounding their horns.”
Passers-by have also made donations to the cost of materials and the effort was also supported by Perth businesses Bannerman Decorators and the Camera Shop in St John Street.
