Two female hillwalkers managed to find their own way to safety after sparking an Angus glens search mission on Sunday.
The women, from the Dundee area, reported themselves lost in an emergency call made from the Tolmount area high in Glen Doll. They had set off from the car park at the foot of the glen earlier in the day.
They raised the alarm shortly before 5pm, leading to the call-out of Tayside Police search and rescue personnel and the Braemar Mountain Rescue team.
Rescue helicopter 137 was also sent to the scene from RAF Lossiemouth and it was involved in sweeping the expansive area the women understood to be in their 40s reported themselves missing in.
Tayside Police said the search teams subsequently lost mobile phone contact with the pair, but the operation came to a successful end when the women met up with a number of other walkers in Glen Doll and were able to make their way off the hills with them just after 7pm.
