Departing Dundee United midfielder Danny Swanson says he would rather go to England than join boyhood favourites Hibs.
Swanson has been targeted by the Scottish Cup finalists, but the 25-year-old would rather make a fresh start, with Middlesbrough believed to be among a number of Championship clubs chasing his signature.
”I know there is some interest from Hibs and it is flattering,” he said. ”They are the team I have always supported and I always look out for their results.
”But I feel deep down the time is right for me to try something completely different and try my luck down in England. It is something I have been thinking about for a while, so I have come to that conclusion.
”I have watched other Scottish players go down there in the past to do well and I am sure I could do the same if given the chance.
”I have enjoyed my time in Scotland, but the way I feel is that a change would be as good as anything at this stage in my career.
”It might sound strange as Hibs are my team, but my preferred option right now is to head to England.”
