NHS Fife promises extra parking spaces for Victoria Hospital

Parking problems at Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital could be eased after it emerged extra parking will be provided by August.
NHS Fife’s operational division committee has been told extra space will be created at Whytemans Brae and at land occupied by contractors south of the new laboratories.
The news comes after NHS Fife confirmed it is also considering putting up fences to stop people parking on grass verges at the Lauder Road side of the new £170m wing.
With spaces near the hospital few and far between, motorists have taken to parking on grass and in nearby residential streets with many ending up with parking fines stuck to their windows.
Welcoming the additional spaces, which will include up to 160 at Whytemans Brae, operational division chairman Dave Stewart said fencing might well be the only way to prevent people from parking on the grass.
He said: ”We need to do something for the residents in Yetholm Way who, to be fair, have been extremely tolerant and helpful towards us especially when traffic is parking on the single lines there for longer than they should.
”I want them to know we’re aware of the issue and we’ll do what we can.”
