St Johnstone are expected to sign striker Gregory Tade today.
Tade, who starred for Inverness Caley Thistle last season, is understood to have agreed a two-year deal and will tie up the loose ends now that he has returned from holiday.
That is great news for Saints manager Steve Lomas, who has urged out-of-contract midfielder Jamie Adams to join him in putting pen to paper.
”We have made Jamie an offer and are waiting to hear back from him,” said Lomas. ”We are hoping he will decide to stay with the club.”
Despite the imminent addition of Tade to the squad, Lomas would also like frontman Carl Finnigan to remain at McDiarmid Park. However, the fact Finnigan is currently crocked means nothing has been offered to him yet.
”Carl is still injured so that one is a bit up in the air at the moment but all things being equal he is one I would like to keep,” said Lomas.
”But as things stand we can’t offer a contract because of the injury. Carl might want to look elsewhere and see if someone will give him a contract now but if not he will be more than welcome to join us for pre-season and take it from there.”
As for goalkeeper Peter Enckelman, it seems he will be playing his football elsewhere next season.
”Peter is looking at his options,” said Lomas. ”He is a very good goalkeeper but we are trying to cut some money out of parts of the budget to spend on other areas of the team.”
