A 37-year-old man was taken to hospital with a head injury after an alleged armed assault in Dundee.
The alleged attack happened in Buttars Place shortly after 9am on Wednesday and emergency services rushed to the scene with residents reporting a great deal of police activity in the area.
A 56-year-old man has been detained by police in connection with the incident.
The casualty was taken to Ninewells hospital by paramedics with a suspected head injury and a cut to his left arm.
A police spokeswoman said his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
She said: ”Officers were called to a disturbance in a flat in Buttars Place shortly after 9am.
”A 37-year-old man was found to have sustained injuries and he has been taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital.
”His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
”A 56-year-old man has been detained in connection with the incident. Inquiries are ongoing.”
One neighbour in the block said he had seen a flurry of police activity during the morning.
He said: ”I looked out my window and saw five police cars and an ambulance.”
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed they had attended but would not comment further.
