Plans to build two homes in the grounds of Ann Gloag’s Perthshire castle have been given the green light.
Permission was originally granted for two single-level bungalows at the site by Church Road, Kinfauns rumoured to be for staff employed by the businesswoman.
Historic Scotland said the designs would have minimum impact on the historic estate.
However, Perth and Kinross Council’s development management committee on Wednesday passed blueprints which will see accommodation created over two storeys.
The application was approved by a unanimous vote after representatives for Mrs Gloag detailed the reasons for the change.
The committee was told the floorspace required for a single-storey house of such a high specification would have been ”excessive” and would have required difficult engineering works.
The upper level of the detached properties will be wholly within the roofspace, with Velux windows.
Assurances were given that there would be no adverse impact on water supply.
