Craig Conway has revealed how he cut short celebrating Dundee United’s Active Nation Scottish Cup triumph.
This is because he is determined to start this coming season the way he finished last term.
“Last year was great for me,” he said.
“Being capped by Scotland in October was kind of unexpected.
“But from then on I found some consistency, things really took off for me and I showed why I won that cap.
“And to finish the season off by winning the cup with me scoring twice was incredible.
“But I am mindful I didn’t start the season as well or as fit as I could or should have and that’s something I’m working towards improving on this time, which is why I kept myself ticking over during the summer.
“The night of the cup final and the following evening we had parties.
“Then myself, Jon Daly, Danny Swanson and David Goodwillie went off to Ibiza for Danny Grainger’s stag and as you can imagine that was a week of extended celebration.
“But then I went off to Mexico on holiday and almost immediately got back into the routine of going running.”
United are off to Austria for a week-long training camp, and Conway is delighted with the change of pre-season routine that represents.
“I think we are all appreciative of going to Austria because Ireland for pre-season was getting a bit wearing.
“The hotel there was lovely, but two or three years in a row was enough.”
