Broughty Ferry Gala Week ended in style with an array of mouth-watering treats and an afternoon ceilidh.
Budding chefs were given the opportunity to shine during a special Masterchef competition at The Ferry Inn, before locals enjoyed some traditional Scottish country dancing at the pub, on Gray Street.
Customers were offered a sumptuous feast of culinary treats during the annual foodie contest, after more than 20 people entered dishes in a bid to scoop the Masterchef title.
Many of the meals served up took on an exotic or international flavour, encompassing locations such as Spain and India.
The dishes included keylime pie, spicy chicken pasta, Spanish chicken, Caribbean lamb and even a dish of lamb testicles.
Local businessman Jeff Stewart, who owns the pub and the Hotel Broughty Ferry, joined The Ferry Inn pub manager Phil Stewart to judge the delicacies.
Jeff said the entrants had put a huge amount of effort into the competition.
“The standard of all the entries have been excellent and it was very difficult to judge between them,” he said.
“This is the third year we have held the competition and the standard gets higher every year.
“Everyone has done really well.”
After a tense deliberation the judges awarded first prize to west end woman Pam Wilcox for her Spanish chicken creation.
Pam (44), who received a meal at Hotel Broughty Ferry and a designer-made trophy from Ferry Potty, said she was delighted.
“I was absolutely shocked I never expected to win,” she said. “It was a nice surprise.”
Broughty Ferry man Ramsay Elder came second for his chicken curry and won a meal at Hotel Broughty Ferry, while Bob Dakers from Broughty Ferry was presented with a bottle of whisky after impressing judges with his tarragon rabbit dish.
The three best chefs in the children’s category were also awarded a cash prize for their culinary creations.
