Liz Miskimmin, a stalwart of Perth and Kinross women’s county golf for many years, has died after a long illness.
Ms Miskimmin, who lived in Auchterarder and whose home club was Dunblane, joined Perth and Kinross in 1986, having previously been a member of Stirling and Clackmannan.
She played for the Perth and Kinross county team for several years between 1988 and 1999 and won the county’s champion of champions’ tournament in 1986.
She was capped for the Scottish Veteran Ladies’ Golf Association team in 1998. Ms Miskimmin was Perth and Kinross county captain in 2000 and 2001 and became county president in October 2004. She was made an honorary member of the county after retiring as president in 2009.
Dawn Butchart, past Perth and Kinross captain and a close friend, said, “Liz was a great ambassador for county golf, with boundless energy and enthusiasm. She was indeed a joy to know.
“Liz worked tirelessly for Perth and Kinross and indeed Scottish golf and for many, me included, golf would not have been so special if it hadn’t been for Liz. She was always ready with a quiet word and wink of encouragement and always knew just the right things to say.
“She had a superb sense of humour and was at ease with both young and old. Liz will always have a place in the heart of Perth and Kinross.”
