Drivers on the A90 north of Dundee could soon be passing a 250ft-high wind turbine.
An application for planning permission for the site at Leyshade Farm near Inveraldie has been lodged with Angus Council one of several in various locations the authority is considering.
Intelligent Land Investments of Hamilton wants consent to operate a 500 kilowatt-capacity turbine for 25 years.
Despite its size, a supporting statement claims the turbine will be “non-obtrusive and fit well into the surrounding area” because of its “sensitive approach to both design and materials.”
It adds, “The development … is sufficiently small in scale to offer no detrimental impact to the local landscape.”
The nearest house is almost 600m away and consultant Arcus believes there will be no problems from noise or shadow flicker.
In the last few weeks planning applications have also been lodged with the council for wind turbines at a farm near Arbroath, a glen north of Noranside and land at Kilry near Alyth.
Dundee City Council is also dealing with a proposal for a pair of turbines on farmland near Broughty Ferry.
