A woman who was at the centre of a small Angus farming community for decades has died, aged 101.
Minnie Leslie was born in Arbuthnott in 1909, one of four children of James and Marion Strachan. After her schooling in the village, she entered service as a housemaid, spending the majority of her working career at Kinnaird Castle.
In 1935 she married local farmer Charles Leslie, after the pair met at a dance in Farnell. The couple lived at the farm in Hill of Bolshan and had three children, Mac, Mairi and Chic.
Mrs Leslie was well known in the area and was famous for providing soup and pudding lunches for the farm workers. There was also a welcoming open door policy in her home and it would not be unusual for up to a dozen young people to be visiting or staying at any one time.
She was a member of Farnell Parish Church and latterly Edzell Parish Church, after moving to the village’s Inglis Court around 23 years ago.
A keen traveller, she toured all over Scotland, in addition to a visit to Germany and two trips to Tazmania to visit her sisters, one of which she made while in her 70s.
As a 100th birthday present she enjoyed a trip on the Orient Express.
Mrs Leslie died suddenly, but peacefully, on Sunday night and is survived by her children, seven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
