Council investigating garage after operating hours complaints

A Dundee garage is being investigated after complaints it is operating outwith its licence conditions.
Dundee City Council is looking into allegations that the business, on an industrial unit on Smith Street off Clepington Road, is working on vehicles beyond the allowed 6am-6pm Monday-to-Saturday opening times.
A member of staff refused to comment on the matter.
A council spokesman said, “We are aware of the issue and investigating.”
A spokesman for Baker Bradley, who lease the commercial property, said they know about the council’s interest.
He said: “People have been complaining that the garage was operating beyond 6pm but that was only because the garage owner was moving in and making some alterations. This is why the problem came about.”
Garage bosses were granted permission to open the premises in January less than two years after operators ran into hot water with city officials for trading without proper consent.
At that time residents were upset at the late-night noise and claims that the street was constantly packed with cars.
