Former Michelin chief executive and director Thomas Ferguson

A former Michelin chief executive and director the first manager of its Dundee site has died, aged 86.
Kilmarnock-born Thomas Ferguson spent much of his later life in Wormit and St Andrews.
After leaving school he became a mechanical engineer and then qualified as a chartered engineer.
At the outbreak of the Second World War Mr Ferguson joined the Royal Air Force.
In 1955 he joined Michelin, with whom he spent the next 42 years as factory manager in Stoke, Burnley, Dundee and Belfast.
In his final years with the company he was appointed chief executive and director and was chairman of Michelin Nigeria Company.
Mr Ferguson was supported by his wife Connie, who died in 1987, and his children Tom, Donald and Jane.
In his free time he enjoyed hillwalking, especially in the Lake District and on the Isle of Arran, birdwatching and golf. He was also a member of St Andrews Rotary Club.
