Raith Rovers handed early home matches

Raith Rovers appear to have been delivered a dream start to the new league campaign with three out of their first four fixtures at home.

The Kirkcaldy side welcome Partick to Stark’s Park before travelling to Queen of the South, followed by games against Dunfermline (home), Morton (home) and then Ross County (away).

However, manager John McGlynn is taking nothing for granted after what happened last season.

“I am pleased we have our opening fixture at home against Partick who we have a good record against,” he said.

“It is great to have so many matches at Stark’s Park to start with as last season we had three out of our first four away from home.

“But at the end of that initial period, we were sitting top of the league so there is no rhyme nor reason to it.

“A good start is absolutely vital though and we will have to improve our home record this season.”

Cowdenbeath begin life in the first division with a really difficult match at home against last season’s beaten Scottish Cup finalists Ross County, while Stevie Crawford’s East Fife have an opening second division game against Airdrie United.

First division newcomers Stirling Albion travel to Morton under new boss John O’Neill while their near neighbours in division two, Allan Maitland’s Alloa , visit Livingston.
