A paedophile jailed for having sex with a schoolgirl, who fell pregnant with his child, ”took advantage” of her ”vulnerabilities,” according to Fife Constabulary.
On Monday, Judge Lady Stacey sentenced Charles Black to five years for having unlawful sex with the girl in 2010, a few weeks after her 13th birthday.
The High Court in Glasgow heard the pregnancy came to light after the girl’s mother told police her daughter revealed Black was the father of her baby.
The 41-year-old Fifer initially denied he was the father but DNA tests later confirmed it.
His name was also added to the sex offenders registrar and he will be supervised for a further two years following release.
Detective Chief Inspector Pauline McCallum, of Fife’s public protection unit, said: ”The swift manner in which Fife Constabulary and its partner agencies dealt with this case demonstrates that we are fully committed to tackling those who commit sexual offences whilst protecting those most at risk.
”In regard to this case, it is clear that Black took advantage of the vulnerabilities around the 13-year-old girl.
”All victims of sexual crime should be assured that, on every occasion an allegation is made to the police, they will be provided with professional support and a pledge that it will be thoroughly investigated.”
