A van driver was taken to hospital after a collision with a lorry on the M90 Inverkeithing to Perth motorway on Wednesday morning.
It led to the northbound carriageway of the road being closed for more than two hours.
The man, who is aged in his thirties, was driving a yellow roads maintenance van when it was in collision with an orange TNT Volvo lorry at 9.30am at Gairneybridge, near Kinross.
The box van is used to signal to traffic of work on the motorway. Its crash cushion at the rear of the vehicle was damaged, as was the front of the TNT lorry.
Motorists travelling northbound on the M90 faced major disruption. Traffic was diverted between junctions four and five with the carriageway eventually completely reopening at 11.45am.
Initially, traffic was diverted via the B914 on to the A823 Rumbling Bridge road and on to the A977 Powmill road.
All emergency services attended with the van driver being trapped in his vehicle after the collision. He was released from the van by Tayside firefighters.
A spokeswoman for Tayside Police said: ”The van driver, who is aged in his thirties, was taken by ambulance to Royal Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. His injuries are not believed to be too serious.
”The lorry driver, who is aged in his forties, had minor injuries and didn’t require medical treatment. The northbound carriageway completely reopened at 11.45am.”
A spokeswoman for Tayside Fire and Rescue said firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the male van driver.
”We had an appliance there from Kinross and a water tender and heavy rescue unit from Perth, along with an appliance from Fife Fire and Rescue,” she said.
