Broughty Ferry inshore lifeboat crew rescued a woman from the River Tay last night.
The woman was pulled from the river by the crew near the grassy beach and, after falling unconscious, she was resuscitated by crew members before being handed over to paramedics.
She was then taken to hospital by ambulance at 8.30pm, about an hour after the alarm was raised.
Lifeboat cox Murray Brown said: ”We were having a meeting in the shed when we got a call that there was a woman in the water.
”The inshore lifeboat went out and found the woman in the water near the yacht club. We pulled her on board and she fell unconscious on the way back to the shed. The crew resuscitated her and kept her warm until the ambulance arrived.
”The big boat was out as well and we searched the river in case there was anyone else in the water. After half an hour we were told nobody else was in the river so we stood down.”
Both Aberdeen Coastguard lifeboats were launched and Coastguard teams from Carnoustie and Arbroath also attended.
There was no update on the woman’s condition.
