Three pupils have been charged in connection with alleged public indecency offences following an incident at a Fife school.
The Courier understands that Fife Police were called to Bell Baxter High School in Cupar after an allegation that some pupils had uploaded indecent images of themselves to Facebook.
A Fife Police spokesman said: “I can confirm that three 16-year-old men have been charged in relation to alleged public indecency offences which are alleged to have taken place earlier this month.”
Philip Black, rector of Bell Baxter High School, said: “This is a very serious allegation which is currently being investigated by the police.
“The welfare of our children is our most important concern and we have taken all the necessary measures to ensure their safety and wellbeing.”
Fife Council education spokesman Bryan Poole said he was unaware of the incident.
“I intend to make inquiries with the council’s education officers and the school directly with a view to ensuring that the incident is dealt with appropriately,” he said.
A council spokeswoman said there are about 200 16-year-old pupils at Bell Baxter High. The school has a school roll of around 1800, she confirmed.
The three individuals charged are expected to appear at Cupar Sheriff Court in connection with the alleged offences next week.
