Another bid has been made for affordable flats in Broughty Ferry.
Dundee City Council’s development management committee will consider a revised plan next week from Ferrier Holdings for a group of 15 apartments on Churchill Place.
City development director Mike Galloway has recommended it for approval but the final decision rests with councillors who rejected a similar application by the company three months ago for the site, which Mr Galloway thought should go ahead.
Two nearby residents objected, and it was deemed contrary to some parts of the local development plan.
Mr Galloway explains in his report to councillors that the main differences are that south-facing window positions have been revised to address issues of overlooking neighbouring properties.
Where this has not been possible, the applicant has demonstrated through supporting information the extent of overlooking.
Three neighbours have objected to the latest plan because of concerns about access, increased traffic, parking, road safety, design, overshadowing and other issues.
Mr Galloway said the concerns of the objectors are partly supported, and he admits the new application does not satisfy the requirements of the local plan.
He thinks there are considerations to justify the application being approved, and points out that flats would be occupied by tenants as part of a National Housing Trust initiative, a scheme for local authorities to create more affordable homes for rent in areas where there is a demand for affordable housing.
The site is at the end of East Links Place and Churchill Place and is currently occupied by lock-up garages.
