A man found dying on a piece of Perth wasteground at the weekend was well-known throughout Perth.
Willie Reid (27), widely known as “Wee Bob”, was discovered with head injuries by emergency services near the Jeanfield Swifts football ground off Bute Drive on Saturday afternoon.
Despite being rushed to Ninewells Hospital to have his wounds treated, he died soon afterwards.
Unemployed Mr Reid was from a traveller family and lived in Muirton’s new Rookery development with his aunt and other family members. They were too upset to speak about his death.
People who knew him said he spent time at various addresses in Muirton and the Fairfield area of the city.
One acquaintance said: “Everyone knew Wee Bob. He was the kind of guy that even if you didn’t know him to speak to, you knew who he was.”
* Three men appeared in private before a sheriff at Perth on Monday charged with murder.
Taylor Gordon (19), of Inchaffray Street, Perth, Drew Paterson (24), of no fixed abode, and Mark Boyd (28), of Nursery Terrace, Perth, all deny that, while acting together, between December 7 and December 8 at an address in Inchaffray Street, Perth, and multi-pitches at Bute Drive, Perth, they assaulted William Reid by striking him on the head and body with a golf club, striking him with a television, repeatedly stamping on his head and body to his severe injury placing him in a car and depositing him on multi-pitches at Bute Drive, Perth, in freezing temperatures and did murder him.
None of the three made any plea or declaration and the case was continued for further examination.
They were remanded in custody by Sheriff Fiona Tait.
