Dunfermline’s red-card culprit Callum Morris is set to be hit with a two-match ban following his sending-off at Livingston on Saturday.

The 22-year-old was shown a straight red after his 19th-minute challenge on Livi midfielder Stefan Scougall and incurred the wrath of boss Jim Jefferies as he left the field.

Fans were left wondering whether the red card was for the reckless nature of the challenge or because he was the last man but it emerged yesterday that referee John Beaton recorded the incident as serious foul play.

That carries an automatic two-game suspension and means Morris will miss his side’s next two league fixtures, against Hamilton and Falkirk.

Meanwhile, Raith Rovers hope to have midfielder Simon Mensing available for Saturday’s clash with First Division leaders Partick Thistle at Firhill.

The 30-year-old missed out on the 3-3 draw with Morton on Saturday due to a hamstring problem and manager Grant Murray is hopeful that he will back this weekend.

Murray said: ”It is not a substantial injury but it could have been worse if Simon played at the weekend. I have been told that there is a good chance he will be back for a tough-looking fixture at Firhill.”
