THE PUBLIC is being urged to get behind plans for a dedicated arts centre in Crieff.
Strathearn Artspace hopes to transform the town’s former library into a multipurpose facility that will accommodate cinema, theatre, music and comedy performances, visual arts workshops and exhibitions.
The proposals have been described as an “exciting community venture that will invigorate the Strathearn art scene and Crieff town centre”.
David Campbell, who has been working on the ambitious project with Tom Barron, said: “Strathearn Artspace will provide more inclusion of all local community groups, as well as focusing on attracting more visitors into the town, to the benefit of local businesses.”
They now plan to create a Friends of Strathearn Artspace organisation.
The plan has also won the backing of local politicians, including Roseanna Cunningham, Liz Smith and Gordon Banks.
A public meeting will take place at the Strathearn Community Campus on January 17 from 7.30pm.
