Dundee defender Matt Lockwood admits to being left bemused by the latest shenanigans to hit the SPL.
The Englishman thought he had seen it all in his three years in Scotland, having come through an administration at Dens, the deduction of 25 penalty points and then watched his team become Club 12 last summer and take the place of Rangers in the top flight.
Now comes the possibility of the relegated Dark Blues escaping the drop because Hearts may have breached league rules as a result of parent company Ubig requesting to make themselves insolvent.
Dundee’s fate should become clearer today when the 12 SPL clubs gather at Hampden, but the matter has left Lockwood scratching his head.
After playing in the Dens club’s final game of the season a 1-0 defeat away to Hibs Lockwood said: “I don’t know what is going on. Does anyone know anything? The season is finished and as far as I am concerned, whatever goes on is nothing to do with us.
“We will just let the powers-that-be deal with whatever happens. There is nothing we can do. It is not in our control, nor is it in Hearts’ control.”
Wherever they are, the new season will see Lockwood still wearing dark blue after positive talks with boss John Brown ended with the player being offered another deal, which he will sign.

“I have spoken to the manager and he wants to keep me and that’s fantastic,” said the 36-year-old. “The footballing world is very ageist so to be offered a contract at my age I am really pleased.”
Lockwood’s summer will be busy, with a family holiday followed by the most glamorous of games in Ghana on June 8.
He said: “I will be taking part in Michael Essien’s charity project the Game of Hope in Accra, Ghana.
“I got an email through the other day with a list of players who will be taking part. I sort of stick out like a sore thumb.
“You have Luka Modric, Michael Ballack, Freddie Ljungberg, Claude Makelele a whole host of stars. The African team will have guys like Didier Drogba and Emanuel Adebayor.
“It is an A-list line-up and how I got on it, I have no idea. I played two years ago for the world select against a team representing Africa and it’s the same this time.
“It was brilliant. There were 40,000 fans at the game and a million watching on TV.”
There was not quite as big a crowd in Leith on Saturday, as Dundee brought the curtain down on their season and Hibs prepared for Sunday’s Scottish Cup final against Celtic.
The Dark Blues did well to go in goalless at half-time, with Hibs spraying the ball about well and star turns Leigh Griffiths and Alex Harris looking dangerous.
The home side grabbed the only goal of the game on 79 minutes when Lewis Stevenson’s cross was powerfully headed home by sub David Wotherspoon.
Dundee boss John Brown admitted his team were second best on the day.
“Full credit to Hibs, they were by far the better side,” he said. “Our goalkeeper (Steve Simonsen) kept the score down. We have put in a good shift but the quality wasn’t there, we never really created anything.
“Hibs have got everything to play for. All the players are playing for cup final slots.”
Hibees manager Pat Fenlon was delighted to see Wotherspoon’s header send his team to Hampden on a high following their third consecutive win.
The goal also secured seventh place in the SPL.
The Irishman said: “We were looking for a performance and we got one of them. I was pleased to pick up three points, no injuries and a decent performance.
“We probably couldn’t ask for any more. We spoke about that when we won the semi-final, to give ourselves momentum and confidence going into the final.
“The players have responded very well because it could have been easy to limp our way through to the final but we have had some decent performances along the way.”
