The troubled mutual, which has recently undergone a major change in the way it is governed, originally announced the move in July. The sale completed yesterday. The Co-op will continue to provide certain services to the business for the next 18 months under the terms of a transitional agreement. The pharmacy operation is the third largest in the UK, with 770 branches and more than 7,000 staff. The new owner is the UK’s seventh-largest family-owned business and operates the Best-One convenience store chain.
