Miller Group CEO standing down

Standing down: Keith Miller.
Standing down: Keith Miller.

The long-serving chief executive of Miller Group is to leave the homebuilding-to-mining conglomerate at the end of next month.

Keith Miller first joined the family business in 1975 and was appointed chief executive almost two decades later in 1994.

He steered the business through highs and lows and was at the helm during a major refinancing in 2012 when £160 million was injected into the business following the downturn.

He is one of Scotland’s most recognisable businessmen and was awarded a CBE for services to the construction industry and charity in January 2005.

The group will not be appointing a successor, with his responsibilities instead being passed down to the divisional business heads.

He said: “We have strong management teams in place in Miller Homes, Miller Developments and Miller Mining, each of which is led by its own chief executive.

“I am looking forward to being able to report further impressive performance from Miller Homes and our other businesses when we announce our final results for 2014 in a few weeks’ time.

“The group has experienced tremendous growth over the past three years, and the time is right to pass the leadership of our businesses to the respective management teams,” he added.
