The managing director of the Simon Howie Group received the honour at the awards event in Glasgow for his services to industry. Starting from a butcher’s shop in Dunning, he has built a business that turns over £33 million a year and employs 384 people. It has diversified considerably, with major interests in property, the laminates sector, waste energy plants and bulk goods handling and distribution.
