Two Tayside hotels from the same family-owned group won a quartet of national awards at the Scottish hotel “Oscars”.
At the Scottish Hotel Awards in Glasgow, Perth’s New County Hotel and its Opus One Restaurant took two accolades a gold medal in the management category for general manager Alan Berwick and a Medaille d’Or for head chef Romuald (Romi) Denesle.
Just hours before the event in Glasgow, Romi also collected a bronze award for Scottish Chef of the Year at the Scottish Hospitality, Tourism and Catering (Scot-Hot) awards.
Meanwhile, its sister hotel, The Craigtay Hotel and its Aubergine Restaurant in Dundee the latter opening just nine months ago also secured two awards. They were Rising Star Young Chef of the Year for head chef Andrew MacIntosh and a gold medal in the design commendation for Sarah Boyle.
Owner Owen Boyle said, “To say that we are thrilled at receiving a quartet of awards at the Scottish hotel ‘Oscars’ is an understatement.
“Representing significant recognition from our industry professionals, it’s wonderful that we, as a small family-owned hotel group, can hold our own against some larger groups and some of the finest hotels and restaurants in Scotland.”
